Snapshot 12.07.08

Not many updates lately - I'm immersed in the last week of the semester program in Mexico City, frantically trying to finish a final project. Chris is in Guadalajara, finding her bearings and enjoying much nicer weather. :)

This weekend I'll head to Guadalajara and then we'll both head for Puerto Vallarta, where we'll spend a week celebrating Christmas with my mom and dad and brother who are coming to visit us. I'm really, really excited - our first visitors! - but ... I ... just ... gotta ... finish ... this ... paper ... first ... almost ... there ...

Before diving back into homework I read the Sunday papers online. The Bears are winning, that's good (to do: 1. find wood, 2. knock on it). I notice the Chicago Tribune has a little photo slideshow of "Classic Chicago Winters." There's one looking down the lakeshore from the North, everything's frozen over, and a man is standing in a black wool coat looking out over the ice... oh, Chicago, it's winter and I still miss you. You're the first place I've ever actually felt heartsick over.

It's chilly here, too. But apparently not chilly enough for the mayor of Mexico City, who has installed a massive outdoor ice rink in the center of the Zocalo. Professor Kim, who grew up on the Vermont/Quebec border, thinks this means D.F. should get its own NHL team. Hijole...
